On the last 21st April I was invited to the Digital Marathon as speaker in a important event.
A great honour for me, since really high professional people were invited to the conference organized by Salone dello Studente, the greatest Italian event dedicated to the university and working guidance for the young people of the high school fifth year.
As speaker at the Digital Marathon went on stage people like Layala Pavone (Digital Magics). Digital Magics is a start-up incubator which allows young people and adults to start from an idea, found a start-up and – through their help – arrive as far as realizing a company which is able to enter successfully the working market.
Layla told about how they work and she tried to inspire the young people that in a short time will have the working field in their own hands to think big.
During her intervention she talked about ideas, passions, dreams, firm, future, success…
There were many entrepreneurs on the stage to tell these young people about the story of who succeeded, who today innovates in, who lives a happy working life thanks to the job created by oneself.
The young people need to be inspired, to make them want thinking different, to not follow the schemes that too often are instilled by adults, parents, professors…each of them will have to create one’s own future and not live a life that the people choose for them.
The really great honour I had was that in the section where I talked as speaker at the Digital Marathon – the social network one – when Alberto Mazzieri, the Facebook Italia Head of Sales made his intervention: he told about the Facebook “mission” which puts people at the centre and how Facebook evolved over time and according to the users needs.
Then he answered some questions asked by the audience showing how Facebook bases on the trust and how it is possible to set really many aspects tied to the privacy that unfortunately are often taken easily and ignored.
After him I went on stage as speaker at the Digital Marathon, to tell my point of view as user of the social network since ever (practically since I learnt to read and write), how I used some of Facebook’s potentialities. And How Internet and net’s use, but above all the social networks were important for my growth, to reach my several goals and for my formation.
Particularly Facebook allowed me to meet people that I would never met without the social. It allowed me to get closer to very high professionals with to debate whom, that maybe then became my friends in real life and important people in my daily routine.
You can imagine my emotion being sit next to “Mr Facebook Italia” and exchanging opinions with him!
Then Ezio Fregnan spoke: he is one of the people in charge in a company dealing with building robotic arms and automation. His company developed a particular program dedicated to children, young people and teenagers, bringing these robotic arms into the classrooms and making them use directly by students: the Comau Academy.
One of the interesting things he showed was this: through their programs, they give the young people as old as I and a bit bigger the chance to take the licence of the automation and robotics even if they are still studying and are not inside any company.
Also Mirna Pacchetti (InTribe) went on stage. Did you remember? I’ve already talked about her in my post about “Le Professioni del Futuro”. She told about – through data – the working opportunities present now and in the following years. What professions will disappear and what new professions will be created and in what fields. Everything thanks to algorithms developed by them analyzing the Big Data.
It’s common knowledge by now: 65% of professions which will be done by the Z generation today don’t exist, yet. These are really great professional opportunities for children and the young people of today that will be able to create their own job chasing their own passions. Then came out how only non-stop formation can help them and how the new professions will be all highly specialized.
Michele Puglisi – LIUC University – analyzed the role of school, not as transmission of knowledge anymore (it is useless by now), but as help in building the social and cultural identity of the young people.
Even if analyzing these words in the light of the school we as students experience every day it makes laugh a bit…it’s certainly a good challenge for our Italian school system, isn’t it?
It was a very interesting morning, rich in opportunities.
Guys! Take part you, too, into this kind of events, look for them online. Milan is just round the corner.
