Salone del Mobile in Milan. Sometimes we have to oxygenate our brain. We often say that, but how many of us actually do it a bit every day?
It doesn’t take much, even only few minutes to watch a video Ted o TedX.
What’s better than a bit of contamination, going out one’s own area of knowledge and exploring worlds and matters unlike one’s daily routine?
I love to do it in all fields, also those ones apparently further, because I am always very curious to do new discoveries and adventuring into different fields.
So today I’ve gone to Salone del Mobile in Milan, an international event, maybe the greatest design event in the world taking place at the fair in Rho, near Milan.
A place that astonishes with its “wow effect”.

It’s an indefinite whole of people coming from any part of the world with tastes, lifestyles and economic possibilities completely different.
At this fair what is normality for us as Italian people as regards taste, environments, design, it’s not the same at all for China, Russia, Arabian Emirates.
I mean, when you enter the pavilions defined as “classic Italians”, you see furniture similar to the ancient castles’ one, golden and opulent, that an Italian would never put in one’s house.
There it’s full of foreign people coming mostly from the countries I’ve quoted, thrilled to admire and purchase this type of furniture.
In the several pavilion I saw really many objects realized by the laser cutter: it means these techniques are coming out the fablab and the isolated places by now to enter burst into the high design.
It’s fantastic to see use the light to furnish the environments and admire how – through simple light effects – people are able to transform an environment characterizing it by unique ways.
Its very interesting also the part of the Satellite Furniture Fair at Salone del Mobile in Milan. There you can run into the budding designers of the universities presenting their own projects and ideas.

Even if you are not so particularly interested in design and furniture, I recommend you to visit it next year (there will be also the Bathroom Furniture Fair – Salone Bagno) both for the pavilions and all the surroundings.
Have you ever heard about Fuori Salone? It’s an indefinite series of events in Milan on the occasion of the design week, many of them are free to explore and admire!
A train ticket to Milan costs really few Euros! Trust me: oxygenate your brain every time you can!
