Talk and inspire the young people as old as I to take their own life and future in hand is one of the hardest and more exciting things at the same time.
Short time ago I went to Apulia with Leonardo, invited by Mimmo Aprile, to a High School where he teaches, to talk to the young people as old as we more or less.
The aim was to tell our stories so that other young people started to think that nothing is impossible: this means to inspire the young people!Inspire the young people talking at the schools thans to @MimmoAprile Click To Tweet
Mimmo Aprile is really en “enlightened” teacher, his IT lessons are actually downright life lessons.
It was really interesting listening to one of them before our intervention.
Then we talked to an audience of young people attending the first two years of the high schools, very curious and very interested. They asked us many questions.
Our intervention was a part of the path called #3wd-3rdWayDigital which had very high level speakers: Giorgio Ventre, Luciano Lenzini, Alfonso Molina, Piersoft (look for them on the web!).
We spend an entire morning with the young people among all sort of activities.
They were thrilled by our robots. We brought also the MIT Duckietown one, even if we couldn’t show it working.
They were really intense moments of confrontation, stories of life, passions, hobbies, work, formation and much more.My #robots in #Puglia in a school to speak about option, determination and future. @MimmoAprile Click To Tweet
At the event there were several former students of Mimmo Aprile and it was one of the most beautiful things: he always repeats that today talking about school without talking about technology is impossible and it always was.
But the school he tries to do is that one where algorithm, formula, lesson arrive after the human relationship. A school creating bounds, because school must teach to cultivate relationships with people.
The former students present were the sign that the bound remains and it’s stronger that all the rest. As always the difference is made by people. You know it, I often had troubles at school in the past years.
Really big troubles. He, as a teacher, had many other ones.
So, why tell about right our stories? And above all, why the system is often so afraid by our stories?
Because it’s easy to repeat, as students or teachers, that nothing works and nothing can be done.
Then when someone who succeeds, someone who changes something and succeeds inside a mechanism which is unchangeable and hostile arrives, it becomes the sign that it’s possible to succeed. And it becomes dangerous. Because it demolishes excuses. Everyone’s excuses. At every level!
Perseverance, determination, hard work and passion are the only recipes working. Don’t believe who tells you other kind of fairytales!
