One day I received a call while I was taking part into an hackathon…I wasn’t able to answer so a message arrived to me: “Would you like to come to Brussels and make a demonstration with drones programmed by coding at the Boeing summer camp?” Wow!
I recalled later to find out more so they told me they wanted just me in Brussels to showchildren taking part into a Boeing summer camp a drone programmed by coding. Boeing was the main sponsor!
I was over the moon! I couldn’t believe ThinkYoung had chosen me again for its activities and this time at their summer coding school!
I don’t know if you remember my stand at Makerstown…I had already told you about it.
I was over the moon but I had to get the drone. I couldn’t buy it online since the time were really short, so – once indentified the right model – I looked for it in Alessandria, then in Milan until I was able to find the right one.
Then I was really ready to leave for the Boeing summer camp as a mentor! The flight will have leave in the afternoon after en event already scheduled in Bergamo.
We arrived on Sunday, the summer school will have taken place on Monday so we had a full free day in Brussels that we decided to spend in Sortilege, a magic wood among wizards and witches, and at the Parlamentarium to find out more about the European Union history.
Arriving at the Boeing summer camp I was shown the works of the two classrooms. 70 youngsters 10-16 years old.
The moment arrived. I showed them how the drone worked, I made them try it and they all were really thrilled!
During the lunch in the bigger hall I made pass it even through a circle and on and under some cables.
Everyone was really excited and the young people wanted to try and took notes!
Then the afternoon flew by with the youngsters, helping them with CSS and HTML.
I’ve come back from Brussels super excited and with even more energy and cues, with many ideas to be able to do always better the activities with children!
