At Cisco with my robots! Do you know Cisco? Cisco is a world leader company in the IT field helping other companies to catch the new opportunities of the future.

I had the honour to tell who works at the high levels at Cisco Italia seat in Vimercate, near Milan, about my story, my passions and everything I do.

Other seats like Rome and Padua were connected by remote support. You think there was even the Managing Director!

At Cisco with my robots

I showed them all my several robots, from my first robot avoiding the obstacles to the robot I built at Duckietown at MIT, as far as the latest one I realized (The Zurich ETH project I already talked to you about).

At Cisco with my robots, I showed them all the possibilities of Arduino and Raspberry, how the several models can be used, how with Raspberry a computer can by realized and how Arduino can be used to control a green house by remote support, the home automation or a 3D printer.

I showed their children how instruments like Makey Makey can be used to make fruit playing, to draw by balloons on the computer, to make a piano playing by water. Young people, big ones and little ones, were all very interested and amused.

Ozobot is interest to big ones and little ones

I showed also Ozobot. It is a very little robot which is able to go around following lines and according to some sketching coloured in a different way it is able to round, go quicker, go slower through the colours code.

I use it to teach the little ones (as you know my courses start from 3 years old children) the programming’s logics.

The most beautiful thing was to see all these people thrilled about what I do, to see youngsters who asked me how I am able to do everything, curious about my story and interested in the world I am fond of.

It was very interesting to see also people at really high levels in the company listen to me and ask me questions and curious issues and even some technical questions.

Cisco and the Webex System

The other Cisco Italia seats were connected through their Webex system, which allows to do conferences using a system of a smart cam following the person who is talking.

It’s an avant-garde instrument which following me…was  really stressed! I kept bending and standing up following the robots and making the fruit playing, plugging in and disconnecting the cables, robots, loudspeakers, cards and sensors. On the contrary, the system is “used” to conferences where the speaker is standing or goes back and forth on the stage max!

After my intervention, visit the Cisco spaces and the instruments they us it was really the top!

Spark Board of Cisco

Spark Board is one of the latest creations of Cisco. It serves for the conferences, too, but by an interactive way. It sends 4K and full HD videos, it allows to make interact people together, for example designers while working on the same draft.

In fact there’s the possibility to draw at the same time on the same digital sheet and to connect with many people contemporarily with a perfect quality image and a perfect voice.

The platform is a sort of giant Ipad and of course everything can be controlled directly by one’s own Iphone or computer.

Cisco spaces

Do you know how are meeting rooms and conferences of the future? A huge trapezoid shape table at the centre “incorporating” virtually the people connected through the screens, no cables or microphones or cams around. Everything is environmental and ceiling. How beautiful is it!

Also here the smart cams follow people talking while moving. All are environments with a “wow” effect, a unique design and spaces where it’s really beautiful to stay.

In short, another interesting and exciting experience which allowed me to see another little piece of the work field!
